Truth or dare & never have I ever generator

Tap Next for a random truth, dare, or never-have-I-ever statement, pulled from a bundled bank of 180 SFW prompts across four categories. Switch games with the mode toggle, filter by category, and copy a prompt to share — everything runs on your device.

How to play

This page bundles two classic zero-prep party games behind one Next button:

  • Truth or Dare. Pick "Random" and each click of Next hands you either a truth question or a dare — you don't know which until it appears, same as the traditional game. Prefer to run a round of just one side? Switch the type filter to "Truth only" or "Dare only".
  • Never Have I Ever. Switch the game mode to "Never Have I Ever" and Next draws a statement instead. Play it the usual way — everyone who has done the thing puts a finger down, or just take turns telling the story behind it.

The category chips filter whichever game is active down to one theme — Classic, Silly, Family, or Spotlight — or leave "All categories" selected to mix everything. Changing the mode, type, or category swaps in a fresh prompt immediately, and the picker never shows the exact same prompt twice in a row.

The four categories

Classic

The broadly appealing, easy-to-answer prompts — quick questions and simple physical dares. A safe default for a first round with any group.

Silly

Goofy, physical, and a little absurd — impressions, funny voices, and questions built to get a laugh rather than a serious answer.

Family

The tamest of the four — hobbies, holidays, simple performances. Aimed at family game nights and younger players, though every category on this page is written to that same standard.

Spotlight

A bit more of a moment in the spotlight — thoughtful truths, short performance dares, and more interesting never-have-I-ever statements. Still entirely SFW; just a little more engaging.

Kept family-friendly on purpose. Every truth, dare, and never-have-I-ever statement in every category — including Spotlight — is written to be safe for a classroom, a family living room, or a coworker you just met: nothing sexual, no drug or alcohol references, no violence, and no dare that could put anyone at risk or embarrass them past what they choose to share. That's not a watered-down version of the game bolted on as an afterthought — it's the only version this page has.

Frequently asked questions

Is every prompt on this page actually safe for a classroom or family game night?

Yes — every truth, dare, and never-have-I-ever statement in every one of the four categories was written to be family- and classroom-safe: nothing sexual, no drug or alcohol references, no violence, and no dare that could injure anyone or embarrass them beyond what they choose to reveal. The whole bank is also run through an automated word screen for a list of clearly unsafe terms before it ships, on top of being written and read by hand.

Why do the dares only involve performances and physical challenges — no personal or risky dares?

Because a dare that depends on trusting a stranger with something risky (handing over a phone, leaving the room, and so on) doesn't scale to every setting this tool is built for — a classroom, an office team-building session, a family living room. Every dare here is something you do yourself, in place, that can't hurt you or anyone nearby: a dance, an impression, a short performance, a silly physical challenge.

Can I filter by just one category, like Family or Spotlight?

Yes. The category chips filter whichever pool is active — Truth or Dare or Never Have I Ever — down to just that category, and the change takes effect immediately on the next prompt.

Why doesn't the same prompt repeat twice in a row?

The picker checks the prompt it just showed and re-rolls if it lands on the exact same one again, as long as the current pool has more than one prompt. Over a long session you'll eventually see a prompt again — the bank is finite — but never on back-to-back clicks of Next.

What does "Random" do in Truth or Dare mode?

With Random selected, Next draws from truths and dares together, so you don't know which you'll get until the prompt appears — the traditional way the game is played. Switch to "Truth only" or "Dare only" if a group wants to stick to one side for a round.

Does the Never Have I Ever list work as a drinking game?

Not by design. Every statement here is written to be played as a point-counting or storytelling game — put a finger down, raise a hand, or just tell the story behind it — with no wording that assumes or encourages drinking. If you want a version you can hand to a classroom or a family game night without editing it first, that's exactly what this bank is for.

Can I copy or share the current prompt?

Yes — "Copy this prompt" puts the exact wording of whatever's on screen onto your clipboard as plain text, ready to paste into a chat, a slideshow, or a printed list.

Does this tool store or track anything about me?

No. There's no account, no analytics, and no server involved in choosing or displaying a prompt — everything happens locally in your browser, and nothing about which prompts you see or copy is recorded anywhere.

Can I add my own prompts to the bank?

Not from the page itself — the bank ships fixed with the site, which is what keeps every prompt vetted to the same safety standard rather than editable in the UI. If you'd like a category expanded, the contact page is the way to suggest it.

Use cases & limitations

Where this is genuinely useful

  • Zero-prep party games. No sign-up, no printing, no app install — open the page and you have a prompt in under a second.
  • Classrooms and office ice-breakers. The Family and Classic categories are the two most deliberately tame if you want extra margin for a school or work setting, though nothing on this page needs that margin either.
  • Switching games without switching tabs. The mode toggle moves between Truth or Dare and Never Have I Ever instantly, so one page covers a whole game night.
  • Filling dead time. Road trips, waiting rooms, and the ten minutes before a meeting starts — the whole bank ships with the page and nothing loads afterward.

What this tool cannot do

  • It cannot generate new prompts on the fly. Every prompt comes from the fixed, hand-written bank — there's no AI generation and nothing is invented per visit.
  • It doesn't track turns or keep score. There's no multiplayer state — just one prompt at a time for whoever is holding the device.
  • The bank is finite. No-repeat only guarantees you won't see the same prompt twice back to back; a long enough session, especially with a narrow category filter, will eventually repeat.
  • No custom prompts from the UI. You can't add or edit prompts on the page itself — see the FAQ above for why.
