Getting a clean glitch look, not a wall of marks
- Start at Low intensity. It is enough to read as “stylised” rather than heavily cursed, and stays legible at the small sizes usernames render at.
- Try one mark group at a time. Through alone gives a clean “static” or “corrupted signal” look with no vertical bulk; Above alone reads more like a heavy accent than damage. Combine two rather than all three for a middle ground.
- Watch the character count. The stats line under the result shows how many characters the cursed version actually is. If a platform has a short limit on the field you are pasting into, this is the number that matters, not the length of the word you typed.
- Test in the actual field before committing to it. Some inputs reject or strip characters outside a basic set; there is no way to know in advance without trying it in that specific field.

What is the difference between “glitch text” and “Zalgo text”?
Nothing, mechanically — they are two names for the same technique: stacking Unicode combining marks onto plain letters. “Glitch text” tends to get used for lighter, more restrained versions aimed at usernames and captions, while “Zalgo” is more associated with the heavier, horror-themed maximum-intensity look. This tool makes both; the intensity slider is the only real difference between them.
What intensity should I use for a username?
Low, usually, and with only one or two mark groups enabled rather than all three. A username needs to stay recognisable at small sizes and often sits inside a length limit that counts every combining mark as a character, so a light touch reads as “stylised” rather than “unreadable” or “truncated halfway through.”
Why did my glitch text get cut off when I pasted it into a bio field?
Character limits count every combining mark as its own character, not just the visible letters. A short word at high intensity can easily turn into well over a hundred characters, so it silently exceeds a limit that looked like plenty of room for the plain word. Lower the intensity, or check the character count shown under the result before pasting into a field with a strict cap.
Can I undo glitch text I copied from somewhere else?
Paste it into the input on this page and press Clean text. It strips every character in the Unicode Combining Diacritical Marks range (U+0300 to U+036F) and leaves the base letters, which recovers the original for the overwhelming majority of glitch/Zalgo text, since that range is what nearly every generator draws from.
